The Climb

Ever find yourself caught in the exhilarating rush of adrenaline, the kind that sets your soul ablaze? Well, picture this: a seemingly ordinary walk with my dogs turned into a heart-pounding sprint up & down a desert mountain trail. The wind whispered tales of challenge and triumph, echoing a choice we all face—do we become masters of nature or victims of fate?

The steep, slippery incline encouraged a leisurely walk to evolve into an invigorating jog, eventually escalating into a full-blown sprint. My furry companions struggled to keep up, but I pressed on, captivated by the fire in my lungs and the burn in my legs. Reaching the top, gasping for air, I sensed a missing piece had been found, but what was it?

The Descent

Was it that fiery feeling I’d been lacking? As I headed down the hill, rocks beneath my feet, ankles snapping, I questioned the absence of pain and difficulty. The epiphany struck— it’s not JUST the fire, but the surrendering to it. To the anger, the hurt, and the passion that I had always feared facing. Now, faced with no other choice, I surrender. But not without resistance.

The Realization

Enter the wisdom of Alan Watts, who captures this conscious battle in his book “This Is It.” Are we the masters of nature, navigating life’s obstacles with grace and ease; or victims of fate, succumbing to every twist and turn life throws at us? Watts challenges us to question the little wo/man within, the illusion of control…

This blog post, inspired by Watts’ profound insights, invites you to join me on this conscious journey. Imagine a sunset trail run, where each step becomes a metaphor for embracing life’s challenges. Will you be a victim, letting obstacles dictate your fate, or will you be a master of nature, bracing for impact and reacting with fluidity?

What and where are YOU resisting? Figure that out. Surrender to it.

Watch your life change.
